Anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) is a member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) superfamily, a glycoprotein secreted by immature Sertoli cells of the testis and granulosa cells of the antral follicles and small sinus follicles of the ovary. Its levels directly correlate with the number of follicles in the ovary and are primarily used to assess ovarian reserve function to reflect the number of antral follicles, or follicle count (AFC), as well as to predict the response to controlled ovulation promotion.
Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) serum concentrations vary during different periods of the body: after puberty, AMH serum concentrations peak in women and continue throughout the reproductive years; thereafter, they tend to decrease with age.
