Clinical Significance

CA72-4, also known as glycoantigen 72-4, is a high molecular glycoprotein-like carcinoembryonic antigen, glycoprotein antigen 72-4 is a marker of gastrointestinal tract tumors and ovarian cancer, and is more specific than CA19-9 and CEA for the diagnosis of gastric cancer. CA72-4 is a mucin-like high molecular weight glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 220-400 KD, with a critical value is<66 U/mL in normal human serum. <1% benign gastric lesion pateiens' CA72-4 increase, while  up to 42.6% gastric cancer patients's CA72-4 increase.
